3DS Details Announced!!

Hey Guys! Nintendo held a press conference in New York this morning and decided to pull the curtains off the 3DS and finally give us all the information we need to start losing our minds. Click the link below to read all the system specs, taken directly from Ninty’s website:

The 3DS will officially launch in the United States for $249.99 and IS REGION LOCKED, meaning you cannot import a 3ds to avoid the wait, and expect to by US games when they’re released.

What’s not mentioned, exactly, is when exactly we expect all the games to come out. Nintendo says by June there will be 30 3DS games on the market. When we’ll get the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Starfox 64 is still unknown.

Here are the only games that are confirmed for launch, everything else is TBA:

  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Nintendogs + Cats
  • Steeldiver
  • Dead or Alive
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
  • Madden NFL
  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D
  • Asphalt 3D
  • Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • Resident Evil: The Mercenaries
  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

I for one am totally stoked for Super Street Fighter IV 3D and Resident Evil: Mercenaries. I expect to pick up Nintendogs + Cats also, I mean, who can resist that adorable charm of a puppy coming out to lick your face in 3D?! I can’t. Dead or Alive looks promising, I got pretty hooked on their last outing for 360 back in 2005. What’s interesting about it, is since Tecmo co-developed Metroid: The Other M, they’re looking to include a bit from the game. IGN has video of two fighters set in the volcanic area featuring a LIVE Ridley, and a teaser of Samus entering the arena as well. You can check out that video here:

I for one cannot wait for this. I was lucky enough to go hands-on with one at E3 of last year, and I can tell you that it will take the world by storm. Once you see 3D without glasses, the great graphical power of this thing, you will be sold. Expect Nintendo to go crazy with in-store demos and mall tours shortly.
