Every week, Wrecked will be highlighting bands playing the upcoming Bay Area Metal Festival. This week we give you the tech-metal tyrants, Kinetik, from San Jose, CA.
Click the jump to hear some of the wrath Kinetik will bring you..
Kinetik began in the late spring of 2007, when drummer Andrew Bailey first began playing with guitarist Chris Lee. What began as simple jam sessions soon became committed practice schedules, as Chris and Andrew fused their individual musical styles into a blend of technicality and groove. As Kinetik’s sound began to evolve, Andrew and Chris recruited fellow musician and bassist Eric Tampier, who added his own style to the band and helped mold its sound into what it is today. It was in the summer of that same year that Kinetikadded vocalist Robert Anderson to its lineup, thus establishing the band as an intense force in the San Francisco Bay Area metal scene. With a distinguishable sound that can only be described as technical groove metal, Kinetik released their first single, ‘Approaching Infinity’ in 2009, and in the fall of 2010, their first demo, ‘Stoppage Time.’
