The Fallout: Dolving Leaves The Haunted [Again]

Fans of The Haunted on Facebook woke up to some very distressing news this morning. Peter Dolving, long time vocalist for swedish thrash-metallers The Haunted, has left the band permanently… again.
Dolving had left The Haunted once before, right after their debut self-titled album in 1998, leaving the more traditional death metal vocalist Marco Aro to fill in for the two albums that followed, The Haunted Made Me Do It, and the crushing One Kill Wonder before he decided to call it quits in 2003. While Aro did an awesome job in his own right, there’s always been something uniquely charming about Dolving’s vocals. Maybe it’s the constant and honest sense of rage that he channeled into every song, or maybe it was his sadistic, intelligent, and often maniacal lyrics. Either way, being a vocalist myself, I’ve idolized Dolving’s work with The Haunted since the beginning and I’m truly bummed to see him go. I hope we hear his name again in music soon.
This is all Peter Dolving had to say (taken from his official Facebook page):
“I am officially quitting The Haunted. After years of working with the band, I am out. I have had it. I will NOT answer questions to why. It’s no one elses business. Thank you very much. I am looking forward to seeing you people at other shows with other projects.”
We gave The Haunted’s last offering, Unseen, a measly 2/5 when it released last spring, and even though I hated the album at first, I have to admit that album’s grown on me a bit, but it took a LONG time. So even despite the deviation from their thrash roots, these guys are still kicking. I’ll keep my ears open for any news regarding who may be filling Dolving’s shoes. We’ll update you with any other details when they come in. Stay tuned.
The last song from the last album we’ll hear Peter Dolving involved in (for now). How appropriate.
