Did Nintendo Rush Mario Kart to the Finish Line?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this year, you’re probably aware that the 3DS had a pretty rocky start following its spring debut. With too ambitious of an initial price tag and a complete lack of quality software, it’s pretty obvious to see why the system struggled. It wasn’t until summer when things for the system really turned around, thanks to the combined efforts of the Zelda and Star Fox remakes, and the added push of a hefty price drop. I think it’s this early pressure that lit a fire under Nintendo’s first-party development houses to start cranking out their flagship franchises even faster than they had anticipated. Do I think this may have effected the quality of Mario Kart 7? Absolutely.

Nintendo’s Finally Done Ripping You Off

Nintendo Selects Line Introduces Mario Kart Wii Bundle -- Hints At Wii Price Drop

According to G4TV.com, Nintendo finally announced price drops on some of its biggest titles, like Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports (previously FREE?), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and more, bringing them to a much more reasonable $19.99 under the “Nintendo Selects” moniker. To me, this feels like a too-little-too-late move for Nintendo. I mean, taking FOUR AND A HALF YEARS to drop a single dime off Zelda’s price tag seems absolutely batshit crazy, don’t you think? Part of the speculation behind this move is that Ninty is price-dropping the big titles as well as bringing the system down to $149 to make way for the new Wii successor, code-named Project Cafe.

Love the Color Scheme. Go Sharks!

I’ve spent about a week with Nintendo’s newest beauty, the 3DS, and I’ve got all the juicy details you need to know. Those “hands-on” sessions you tried at Best Buy WILL NOT do the system any justice at all. In fact, Ninty’s newest handheld, despite a few questionable design errors, is going to take the world by storm.

Wrecked Crashes IGN & Capcom’s Street Fighter Party!

I assure you, this photo has not been doctored in any kind of way. We destroyed that place.

Last night, fellow Wrecked editor Sean and I had the privilege of crashing IGN & Capcom’s Super Street Fighter IV 3D private event at IGN’s headquarters in San Francisco. People lucky enough to get in were treated with Street Fighter in every direction and a chance to win a Nintendo 3DS and a copy of SSFIV-3D courtesy of Capcom.

Attendees were welcomed by some very cheerful IGN employees, and were actually encouraged to apply for an opening at their offices. We were all welcomed with free pizza, soda, and snacks, but were we there to get buttered up by our fellow Bay Area based publication? No, we were there to crash the party.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D: Blanka Balls And Beer Goggles

SSFIV-3D's New Dynamic Mode

This past Wednesday, Ivan and I had the privilege representing Wrecked at Capcom’s Street Fighter 3D event held at IGN’s office in San Francisco. When we got there, we miraculously had parking right in front even though they PROBABLY had a spot reserved for us. Anyways, we walked up, they checked our names off the list, handed us our tickets, and escorted us in and up the elevator. We entered the room and was met with a warm welcome from an IGN staff member. She showed us where the games were and showed us to the free pizza…both equally good. Being the big Street Fighter fan I was, I was both very excited and very skeptical.
